A new attraction is coming to Coney Island this summer, but it's a
different kind of thrill, one that takes place thousands of feet in the
air. NY1's Jeanine Ramirez filed the following report.
Riders on the Soaring Eagle glide through the air, but soon, stunt
planes and fighter jets will be soaring in the skies over Coney Island
NY1 has learned that a big air show is coming to the Brooklyn seashore this summer.
Coney Island visitors are excited.
"It would be fantastic. Lots of fun," said one visitor.
"I think it's going to be a lot of fun. They should do it, yeah," said another.
"It would be wonderful if they bring it here," said a third.
The U.S. Air Force Raptor Demo Team will be one of the headline acts.
The military calls the F22 Raptor the most advanced fighter jet in the
world, with more thrust than any other plane, allowing it to cruise at
Also in the show, the U.S. Navy Parachute Team - the Leapfrogs - performing precision aerial stunts.
"I would be interested in seeing it," said one Coney Island visitor.
"It would be great if they bring it," said another.
Sources say the city administration has just signed off on the event,
which will feature about a dozen high-flying acts, including Lucas Oil
The Coney Island performance is already listed on some airshow
calendar dates, on the weekend of August 29 and 30. Some Coney
