Fun and Thrills Ride Into the Fall at the One and Only ~ Coney

Coney Island Announces Fall Lineup of Events

CONEY ISLAND, September 26, 2014 — The fun and thrills of the 2014 summer season are

continuing into the month of October with an exciting lineup of family-friendly events and

activities at your favorite Coney Island attractions.

Kicking off Pumpkin Season is Luna Park’s Halloween Harvest. Luna Park will be open at

noon every Saturday and Sunday through October 26th for pumpkin painting and FREE

activities including trick or treating, daily entertainment, costumed characters, caricature artists,

balloon benders, magicians, and more! The park will have a pumpkin patch on site and for $5

visitors can paint a pumpkin at the painting station and bring it home.

In addition, Luna Park is hosting a series of contests with cash prizes. At any time Guess the

Weight of one of the largest pumpkins in New York City for a chance to win $1,000. On

October 4th, participate in the Pie Eating Contest from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM for a chance to win

$250. On October 11th, dress your dog up and stroll over to Luna Park for the Dog Parade. The

best-dressed dog will receive a super bag of goodies and $100 for their owner. On October

18th, put your carving skills to the test for the Pumpkin Carving Contest. Participants will have

three hours to carve their vision into a 10lb pumpkin and compete for cash prizes. Halloween

Harvest is fun for the whole family, so join Luna Park in Coney Island to celebrate Halloween for

the entire month!

Over Columbus Day Weekend, Deno’s Wonder Wheel Amusement Park and Luna Park will

be open. Also open for the weekend, in addition to the remainder of the year, are the New York

Aquarium, Applebee’s, Coney Island USA, Gargiulo’s Restaurant, Nathan’s Famous and

Tom’s Coney Island.

The fun continues on October 15th as the Brooklyn Bolts, Brooklyn’s first professional football

team since 1944, open their inaugural Fall Experimental Football League season against the

Boston Brawlers at MCU Park. The Bolts are one of four teams in the FXFL, a developmental

football league for players, coaches and referees who are on the brink of fulfilling their NFL

dreams. The Bolts will play two additional home games in their six game season. On October

24th, the Bolts battle the Omaha Mammoths and on November 7th they face off against the

Florida Backtips. Get your tickets for as low as $20 to watch professional football right here in

Coney Island.

Rounding out the month will be the Brooklyn Triathlon on Sunday, October 26th. Triathletes

are storming Surf Avenue and the Boardwalk. There are competition distances for everyone
