“Brooklyn Community Board 13 thanks New York State Senator Diane Savino, New York State

Assembly Member Alec Brook-Krasny, New York City Council Member Mark Treyger and the

Alliance for Coney Island for continuing the sensational tradition of the Coney Island Children’s

Halloween Parade. They have shown, once again, that there is always a place to have fun in

Coney Island,” said Stephen “Butch” Moran, Chairperson of Brooklyn Community Board

"Nathan's Famous is proud to continue its support for the Coney Island Children's Halloween

Parade by providing our world-famous hot dogs. As in the past, this event promises to be a

spectacular day of fun for the local community, solidifying the area as a year-round destination.

As Nathan's prepares to celebrate its centennial anniversary, we look forward to continuing to

support community programming," said Wayne Norbitz, President of Nathan's Famous, Inc.

and Alliance for Coney Island Board Member.

“We are excited to be a part of The Coney Island Children’s Halloween Parade and to have

the opportunity to support the kids and community with seasonal festivities and our Halloween

Harvest each year,” said Valerio Ferrari, President of Central Amusement International,

which operates Luna Park in Coney Island, and Alliance for Coney Island Board Member.

“As we are in our final weeks of the season, it's is a perfect time to come together with the rest

of our Coney Island family to celebrate and partake in these fun traditions.”

The entertainment begins at MCU Park, the home of the Brooklyn Cyclones minor league

baseball team, with food, games, giveaways and free entertainment. The first 1,500 children

to register will receive a free 2-Hour, Unlimited Ride Wristband to Luna Park valid on 22 rides

and a candy bag filled with treats. A costume contest will be judged by ACI members with

10 winners receiving a trophy and prize package composed of items and gift cards from ACI

members, including Coney Island USA, Deno’s Wonder Wheel Park, New York Aquarium

and Tom’s Coney Island.

The parade will kick off on the Riegelmann Boardwalk by MCU Park with participating children

and families marching along the historic boardwalk, and will end at the rear entrance to Luna

Park. “The Alliance for Coney Island is proud to work with State Senator Diane Savino, State

Assembly Member Brook-Krasny and Council Member Mark Treyger in what promises to be the

best Children’s Parade yet,” said Johanna Zaki, Executive Director of the Alliance for Coney

Island. “The Coney Island renaissance continues as we add more programming to our fall

season so that the amusement district will be a family-friendly experience from Palm Sunday to

Halloween. Coney Island has truly become a year-round destination with many local businesses

open in the winter.”

In addition to parade festivities planned for later this month, Luna Park and Deno’s Wonder

Wheel Park are both open weekends through the end of October. Luna Park is hosting

Halloween Harvest, a month-long event that has the park decorated for the fall season.

Halloween Harvest features pumpkin picking and painting and free activities like magic shows,

balloon twisting, face-painting, caricature portraits and more. An iconic Coney Island ride,

Spook-A-Rama at Deno’s Wonder Wheel Park is a perfect, autumn experience.

To further add to the fall fun, the Brooklyn Bolts, part of the new Fall Experimental Football

League, will play another game in October at MCU Park. Coney Island USA will produce

Dead End Dummy with many performances throughout the month. Written by the “unofficial

mayor of Coney Island,” Dick Zigun, the show promises to continue the great entertainment

that the not-for-profit arts organization is known for. As always, the New York Aquarium is

a wonderful year-round attraction. Many other Coney Island businesses will also be open for

visitors throughout the year, including Applebee’s, Gargiulo’s, Grimaldi’s, Nathan’s Famous,

Peggy O’Neil’s, Tom’s Coney Island and Totonno’s.
