Footprints in the Sand - Coney Food Fest

Daily News excerpt -

Here’s a fundraiser befitting the People’s Playground.

Seventeen food establishments in Sandy-pummeled Coney Island are offering small discounts — a free glass of wine here or a gratis soda there — next week to celebrate the neighborhood’s feisty resilience.

The four-day foodie fest, launching Monday, is called Footprints in the Sand.

“The aim is to show that places are back and open for business,” said Elisa Balabram, a spokeswoman for the Local Development Corporation of East New York and the Hurricane Sandy Disaster Relief Program.

Bargains include a free vino with an entree at Gargiulo’s, a soda when you spend $5 at Ruby’s Bar & Grill, and even a barking cheap five-cent Nathan’s hot dog for every one purchased at the regular price.
Other participants include Mi Candileja restaurant, Peggy O’Neill’s bar and William’s Candy.
